Severina Kamugisha Kemirimbe certainly won’t have any trouble registering that mouthful of a name with the Screen Actors’ Guild. She burst onto the scene in 2001 with a role in the straight-to-vid remake of Roger Corman’s classic The Arena opposite former Playboy Playmates Karen McDougal and Lisa Dergan, damn near stole the Skin Show right out from under them. The movie, which is little more than a B-grade excuse for gratuitous nudity (no complaints, here) is about female gladiators in the age of the Roman Empire, all of whom somehow have breast implants several thousand years before the onset of plastic surgery. (It is fiction, we suppose.) In any case, Kemirimbe shows hers off in a few scenes as the requisite African gladiator, including one where she is dead laying on a table. Sadly, there are no full-frontal shots of any of the actresses in the film, but with a debut performance like this one, it would be difficult to imagine that Kemirimbe’s time is short in coming…
